Washington wins 4th straight mixed title
Washington defeated California's Lyle Sieg, 9-5, with a steal in the 10th end at the Portage Curling Club in Portage, Wis. This is the ninth title for Clark (Lynnwood, Wash.) and vice skip (and wife) Cristin Clark (Lynnwood, Wash.); first title for 2010 junior champion Sean Beighton (Seattle); and eighth for Bev Walter (Seattle).
Sieg (Tacoma, Wash.) and teammates Britt Rjanikov (Wayland, Mass.), Barry Ivy (Livermore, Calif.), Stacey MacNeil (San Jose, Calif.) and Katie Dubberstein (Portage, Wis.) were seeking the Mountain Pacific region's first-ever mixed national title but settled for silver. Through eight ends the California team kept matching Washington's scoring output. It was until the ninth end that Washington took a two-point advantage and they sealed the win with a two-point steal.
