USA wins 6th in a row to stay in playoff hunt

March 22, 2012
With its sixth straight win, Team USA is still alive in its quest to reach the podium at the 2012 Ford World Women's Championship.

Team USA's Allison Pottinger (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Nicole Joraanstad (Verona, Wis.), Natalie Nicholson (Bemidji, Minn.) and Tabitha Peterson (Eagan, Minn.) survived an extra-end scare from Sweden (7-3) to come out victorious, 6-5, today at the Enmax Centre.

The win over Sweden's Margaretha Sigfridsson improves Team USA to 6-4 in the standings with one game remaining in the round robin against Denmark (5-4) tonight at 7 MT. Sweden, Canada, Switzerland and Korea are tied for first place with 7-3 records after three of those four teams lost games this morning. The U.S. needs a win tonight coupled with a loss either this afternoon or tonight by any of the four teams to get into the playoffs or to play in a tiebreaker game.
