Men's playoffs set in Bismarck

December 4, 2011
Six men's teams are still in the hunt to be named Team USA as the round robin concluded tonight at the 2012 USA Curling Senior Men's National Championship at the Capital Curling Club in Bismarck, N.D.

Teams skipped by Ian Journeaux (Plover, Wis.), Craig Disher (Rolla, N.D.), Paul Pustovar (Hibbing, Minn.), Ross Litman (Duluth, Minn.), Ken Neidhart (Lodi, Wis.) and David Russell (La Crosse, Wis.) have advanced to the playoffs, which will start at 9 a.m. CT Sunday.

The top two seeds - Journeaux (5-0) and Disher (4-1) - earned byes and advance directly to the semifinals. Journeaux will play the winner of the game between Neidhart and Litman while Disher awaits the winner of the Pustovar-Russell game in a battle of two former senior champions. Disher, the winner of Pool B, earned the first-round bye based on a better draw shot challenge score than Pustovar, the winner of Pool A. Since Journeaux's team is still undefeated - win or lose in tomorrow's semifinal they still have at least one more shot than the other teams to win the title due to the double knockout provision.
