The U.S. Curling Association has appointed three coaches to work with the National High Performance Program Teams. Scott Baird (Bemidji, Minn.) has been appointed as National Coach for the Men's High Performance Program. A national coach for the women's program will be announced at a later time. In addition, 2010 Olympian John Benton (St. Michael, Minn.) and 2010 Olympic men's coach Phill Drobnick (Duluth, Minn.) will work with the National High Performance Program Project 2018 Teams, developing the USA's best young curling talent.

PyeongChang, South Korea, beat out bids from Germany and France to win the rights to host the 2018 Olympic Winter Games and 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, the IOC announced today.

The city for the curling competition will be Gangneung, which hosted the 2009 World Women's Championship.

The Copper Country Curling Club in Calumet, MI, was hit hard by a storm on July 1. More info is posted at the club website: http://sites.google.com/site/coppercountrycurlingclub/

The Minot Curling Club is still in 4-6 feet of flood water, according to Craig Nathan, club president. Club members will be able to go in and check out the full damage in about 1-2 weeks. Nearly all club members were directly affected as well. Volunteer help may be needed to help get the club back up and running this fall. Contact Craig at cnathan@min.midco.net.
