The defending U.S. national champions will join Team North America to compete in the 2012 World Financial Group Continental Cup, presented by Monsanto. The event is set to take place Jan. 12-15 at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia.

Patti Lank (Lewiston, N.Y.) and Pete Fenson (Bemidji, Minn.) will lead their teams at the eighth edition of the Cup, which features six teams from North America taking on six teams representing Team World in four days of competition, including traditional team games, mixed doubles, singles, mixed skins and men's and women's skins competitions.

Any athlete considering registering for the 2012 YOG playdown is required by the U.S. Olympic Committee to register online before Sept. 5, 2011, and complete pre-registration paperwork. Anyone thinking of applying for coach/team leader position also is required to pre-register with the USOC.

For the sixth straight year, The Chicago Community Trust has awarded a grant to USA Curling to further assist in the growth of the Olympic sport. USA Curling hopes to continue its upward membership growth pattern, which has increased greatly in the past 10 years, with the addition of several new curling clubs and steady growth in dedicated curling areas.
