The first High Performance Camp wrapped up this weekend. Thanks to the Green Bay Curling Club for hosting the camp as well as the athletes, staff, instructors and other individuals who worked hard to make this camp a success. Thank you also to Lino Di Iorio for coming down from Canada with his BalancePlus Technical Systems. The next camp will take place Aug. 12-14.

The United States Olympic Committee offers tuition assistance and legacy scholarships to qualifying active athletes, retired athletes, and coaches enrolled in an accredited degree- or certificate-granting program at an academic institution of higher learning. Please read the application documents for details.

Because USA Curling must review and certify each application and then forward it to the USOC, please send your completed documents to USA Curling so that they’re received in time for us to meet the USOC’s deadline.

The USA Curling Coach/Team Leader Selection Procedures for the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games are now available. Applications are being accepted through Aug. 31, 2011. Applicants will be expected to fill both the coaching and team leader roles as only one credential will be available.

Town hall meetings to discuss governance changes are scheduled at the following locations (more sites to be added):

Green Bay, Saturday, July 16, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Best Western (near curling club)

Denver area, Saturday, July 23, 1-3 p.m., at Pam Finch’s house (22765 E. Long Drive, Aurora, CO 80016)

Bismarck, ND, July 22, 5 p.m. and location is tentatively set as the curling club

Kansas City, Aug. 6, time & location TBD

In addition, webinars will be scheduled to facilitate additional meetings.

The U.S. Curling Association, in partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee, has selected eight teams to become part of the 2011-2012 High Performance National Program. The overall program is under the leadership of Derek Brown, USCA Director of High Performance, who has established an advisory group to provide input into the program development and team selections.

The invited teams include four at the elite level and four considered developmental, the latter part of a national program termed Project 2018. High Performance Program teams include those skipped by Pete Fenson, Tyler George, Patti Lank and Erika Brown. In addition, four junior teams have been tagged for the Project 2018 program. Those teams are skipped by Josh Bahr (Bemidji, Minn.), Stephen Dropkin (Southborough, Mass.), Becca Hamilton (McFarland, Wis.) and Miranda Solem (Cohasset, Minn.).
