USAV Beach High Performance Championships
The fourth-annual USAV Beach High Performance Championships (Beach HPC) will be held July 17-21 in Hermosa Beach, Calif., featuring the best young beach volleyball athletes in the country in an elite competition. The USA Beach HPC will give participants exposure to international style competition within five separate age divisions. The USA Beach HP Championships is the marquee event for USA Beach Programs.

Age Divisions: The USA Beach HPC consists of five age classifications by birth year consistent with those established by the FIVB. These age-group classifications govern international competition and all levels of Beach High Performance programs. Please note that these age-group classifications differ from USA Volleyball Junior club and Junior Beach Tour age definitions and also from grade classifications of U.S. school systems.
University-U26: Born in 1988 through 1992
Junior-U21: Born in 1993 or 1994
Youth-U19: Born in 1995 or 1996
Select-U17: Born in 1997 or 1998
Future Select-U15: Born in 1999 through 2001

Matches will begin at 9 a.m. daily and continue to about 6 p.m. Finals for each age division are scheduled to begin by 4 p.m. Match schedule and results will be available on AES (www.advancedeventsystems.com) starting July 16th.
USAV regions and members: U15-U19 Divisions $120/team, U21 and U26 Divisions $80/team
Foreign federations: U15-U19 Divisions $180/team, U21 and U26 Divisions $120/team

Ball: The Molten BV5000 is the official ball.
Competition Rules: The competition will be played in accordance with USAV Rules and Regulations. USAV Coaching Rule 4.1.3 will be utilized in U15, U17, and U19 divisions. Only registered coaches will be allowed to coach. All matches will be best of three to 21, with the third game to 15. There is no cap. The U15 Boys’ Division will play on a 7’4” net, except for any matches in which they may cross over with the U17 Boys’ Division in which case they will play on an 8’ net.
Officials: Certified and/or training officials will be provided for all semifinals and finals, as well select preliminary matches whenever possible. Teams will have either scorekeeping or officiating duty. Officials will be assigned by the Head Official.
Coaching: All coaches will need at a current USAV Beach IMPACT or Beach CAP certification, USAV background check, and USAV membership to be registered as an official coach. (Exception, foreign federation coaches must have a letter of endorsement from their federation.)
Uniforms: Matching uniforms are strongly recommended.
Entries: Every USA Volleyball region is invited to participate in this event. Regional bids will be allotted as follows:
- Each region will automatically get one bid per age group/per gender.
- Regions hosting a USAV BHP Tryout, BHP Camp, Junior Beach Tour stop or other USA Beach event will get an additional bid per age group/per/gender for each event they host for a maximum of three total bids per age group/per/gender.
- The host region may have two additional bids for a maximum of five bids per age group/per/gender.
- Foreign Federations may enter a maximum of four teams per age group/per gender.
- If a region declines to participate, USAV may extend invitations to a club or other organization or extend a wildcard to an individual team from that region.
- Any remaining bids will be released after the July 1 registration deadline to those regions who have hosted the most USA Beach events.
Projected Field Sizes: Field sizes are dependent upon total number of entries, and will be confirmed by July 12. Projected field size per division is listed below. Final Match schedule is also dependent upon total number of entries and will be released July 16th.

Player Meeting and Check in: On the first day of completion for each division, all players must check one hour before their wave begins for their Division Player Meeting. Player meetings will last no more than 20 minutes. On subsequent competition days, athletes are not required to check in, and can proceed directly to their playing or reffing assignments.
Lodging: The USA Beach HP Championships is not a “Stay to Play” event at this time. A list of recommended hotels and other lodging options is available.
USAV Beach Official’s Training Camp and Certification: The Camp is designed for those with little or no beach officiating experience…a great place to get your start.
