BUSY DAYS, EXCITING DAYS

Dear Members,

To say that USA Synchro has had a busy summer would be an understatement. As busy as the days have been, they have been even more exciting.

Our summer competitive season began with the Pan American Masters’ Championships. Our masters swimmers hosted their neighbors from the Americas, and the competition was strong.  The exciting thing about Masters’ Synchro is the esprit de corp of the athletes. They are so supportive of one another; this is unmatched in other competitive events.

The Age Group Nationals in Riverside had nearly 1,100 athletes competing. The days were busy for all – athletes, coaches and officials. As your president, I once again found this meet to be inspiring, as we got to see future Olympians for the first time. We hosted friends from overseas in Dallas at the US Open, and the competition was fierce. Our team was second only to the Chinese team, which was comprised of several former Olympians.

I was unable to be in Kazan at the World Unversity Games, but how thrilling to see our swimmers on the podium with Old Glory flying above. Way to go, ladies! On to Barcelona, Mary Killman finished tenth in Technical Solo and Rebecca Moody finished thirteenth in Free Solo.

The Pan American Age Group Championships just concluded, and our swimmers won the overall trophy for each age group. Fantastic results – WOW!

A big thank you to all of the coaches, team managers, parents and staff who have made this season so exciting.

Now on to Anaheim and our upcoming Convention. We are in changing times, and it requires that all of us be willing to step out of our comfort zones. This can be uncomfortable, but it can also be exciting. Our deliberative process can be cumbersome at times, but getting the input from our membership is also an important and exciting part of the process. So join me in Anaheim as we embrace positive changes that will move USA Synchro forward. We can do it, we must do it, and we will do it!

Busy and excited,

Judy
