USA Curling

Officiating is a great way for curlers of all ages and experience levels to play key roles in the sport at both national and international events. There are four levels of officials working to create world class championship curling experiences.  The highest ranking officials in the United States often have the opportunity to officiate at international events, including the Olympic Winter Games.

Taking a course is the first step in becoming an official.  The USCA officiating training is composed of:

  1. Technical Training: Rules, mechanics of clock operation, on-ice mechanics and behavior, and a written exam.
  2. Practical Training: On-Ice mechanics and decision making processes including case study discussions and operation of various measuring devices.
