Growing up in Huntsville, Ala., Megan Harmon didn’t see a lot of snow in her hometown, but since her dad first took her skiing on a Girl Scout trip when she was 7-years-old. To Harmon it didn’t matter that the tiny resort in Northern Alabama only had 150 feet of vertical drop, she loved spending time on the slopes.
While in college at the University of Alabama at Huntsville, Harmon was riding her motorcycle when she was hit by a car and lost her leg on March 12, 2009. Within two weeks of her accident, she was walking with a prosthesis and was snowboarding six months later.
In addition to training, Harmon also works at ATK as a quality engineer on rocket motor construction.
