Personal

Jake Adicoff has been a cross-country skier since he was in the second grade. He was initially introduced to the sport in 2002 through the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Junior Nordic Development team. Adicoff, who is legally blind after incurring chicken pox in utero, has experience in both alpine and Nordic skiing. He spent three years on the SVSEF’s Alpine C Team before transitioning full-time to cross-country in 2005. Adicoff has spent most of his competitive career racing in an able-bodied field, having competed in two junior national championships in 2011 and 2013. It wasn’t until the made the 2013-14 U.S. Paralympics Nordic Skiing National Team that he fully shifted his focus to Sochi and the Paralympic Winter Games.

Adicoff, an honors 2013 graduate of Wood River High in Sun Valley, has been accepted to Bowdoin College in Maine and will start studying there after deferring for a year to chase his Paralympic dreams. He is a recipient of the 2011 U.S. Ski and Snowboard Dave Quinn Award, which honors athletes who exemplify the ideals of cross-country skiing, including a love of the sport, a strong work ethic, and overcoming hardship. In addition to skiing, Adicoff enjoys hiking and thrift store shopping.
